GRUPO FOLCLORICO DE BAILADOS E CANTARES DE S. MIGUEL

The "Grupo Folclórico de Bailados e Cantares de S. Miguel" was founded by Gloria and Miguel Correia on October of 1988. Based at St. Agnes Parish Church, the group made its debut at the "Senhor Da Pedra" feast under the guidance of trainer Eduardo Aguiar. The group is comprised of 30 members whose ages range from 10 to 60. Being the only group in Toronto representing S. Miguel with live music, the group has received countless invites. Most notable among our various trips around North America are our performances in Hull, Laval and Ville D' Anjou in the province of Quebec and Central Falls, Fall River and Pawtucket in the US. In 2000, the group saw to fruition its dream project, "À PROCURA DAS RAÍZES- DO SONHO À REALIDADE" (In Search Of Our Roots- From a Dream to Reality), in which we traveled to the island of S. Miguel in the Azores. In S. Miguel the group participated in Relva's 8th International Folklore Festival and several other performances throughout the island. The group continues to entertain audiences for its seventeenth year.
